Though I had already published a poem on the first day of April as a part of AtoZ, I could not pass up this prompt from NaPoWriMo. The prompt was to write a poem like a recipe or instructions on how to do something or try to play on the notorious unreliability of instructional manuals. So here is my attempt..

How to get a Peace Of Happiness

What you need

A box codenamed ‘keys’ with an airtight lid (which you can easily loose)

A box┬ácodenamed ‘sweet tooth'(which you never loose, however hard you try)

An expectations meter

An eraser

A few colour pencils

Recipe of the day

Start each day with searching
Searching for the ‘keys’ you lost
Lost after you sealed it
Sealed it tight with all your past

Then when you don’t find it
Grab yourself a peace of happiness

Find the ‘sweettooth’ you always find
Gobble up a dollop of smiles
And a pinch of hope
And a smidgen of affirmations

Then as you carry them with you
Grab yourself a peace of happiness

Bring out that meter you own
On the hour every hour
And measure your expectations
Lower accordingly

Then when all your expectations are met
Grab yourself a peace of happiness

The day may serve you something
Stinky or rotten,
Erase the yuckiness
Recolor your perceptions

Then dump the rest of your worries problems
or anything else that got stuck
in the ‘keys’ you always loose
seal it tight and snooze, as you

Grab yourself a peace of happiness.
