This is my home
I live here
My house
It’s not your property
No one else’s but mine.

So, don’t come knocking
The door is locked
Uninvited guests won’t be entertained
No dare nor candy

It doesn’t matter if its too big
or too small
It’s mine
I love it

I choose how to decorate it
bright
kohl
less
more
none of my accessories or lack of it
is an invitation
I am not asking for it
Not even your opinion on it

I decide who to let in
My choice
Not your’s
No means no
Respect my words
Leave me alone
No means no
Don’t you get it?
It’s my body
My home
Mine
Not yours.

This poem is a call for us to assert our ownership of our own bodies to the world and also, to love and cherish ourselves in our entirety. The outline for this poem was written a little while back. The prompt at Real Toads opened it up again and brought it back to life. Sharing it with fellow voices, let’s break the Silence together.

I like this one! In fact I was thinking of writing a prompt on similar theme. Telepathy it seems!!

Very powerful poem! We need to set our own boundaries and for our boundaries to be accepted by others.

You know, people need to wake up to the fact that our body is ours..Period.
I so wish more would read this poem with words so simple to understand – the kind that don’t come across as complex – and learn to respect our opinion – No means No!

Amen. Our bodies, our selves, our homes.

Awesome! No means no, in any language, even the unspoken. An excellent response to the prompt. Thanks for joining in.

This poem gave me chills. I had to stop halfway through and start from the beginning again.

I am so glad it had an impact on you.

I just read your latest post on Feminism. It is a familiar tale. Most men do believe that feminism is somehow an attack on their rights. And do not get that it is in fact about equality and equal rights.
