I step off the safety of the rumbling propellor

into the vastness of the blue sky with cream sheep

i thought I was off on an adventure

i thought I was learning to fly like that dream

but gravity quicksands me rapidly,

as the noose around my neck yanks

will you be the cushion of my crash or

the trampoline that bounces me up for a second chance

or will you be wielding that hammer

that drives me in a little bit deeper.

I Fall

I would like to fly in my dreams like Superman and enjoy spending time with the cream sheep in the sky but then the only way that is going to happen in my own dreams is to watch many hours of Superman flying and then hopefully it will be absorbed into my brain and then comes out to play at sleepy time 🙂 Fantastic imagery in your poem. I really like how it travels between hope and taking risks, redemption and breathtaking adventure.

Thanks David for sharing what you felt reading the poem. I had the picture in my mind vividly.
