This April I am writing a poem a day for the AtoZ challenge and have been following a theme dubbed ‘Copycat Poetry’ or ‘Inspired Poetry’. My definition of Copycat Poetry is essentially poetry inspired the work of another poet. You can read my work for AtoZ here.

However, on Sundays we take a break in the AtoZ challenge. Since, I am also participating in NaPoWriMo I decided to take my inspiration from Imaginary Garden with Real Toads where a bunch of poets are writing 30 poems this April. The inspiration for today was photos from a city walk. Here are the ones I used in my poem.

I Know

I wallow in self-pity as

a discarded cloud

drowning in murky stagnant waters

not for too long,

I know I shall heal myself

I shall find me again, and be

a magnolia floating in tangerine skies.

Lifting oneself up – the puddle is filled with garbage, but it also reflects the sky. – great use of the photos!
