somewhere deep in an Indian jungle, unknown to man, there is a teeny tiny bit of magic underfoot

where animals of all sorts congregate
for a grand ball amidst forest greens

to shake a leg or four and eat some fruit
sip on fresh coconut water and
Groove to the jungle tune

the matriarch of the wild elephants is tonight’s host,
and a thousand fireflies light up the clearing with their glow

the show commences with great pomp and show
by a baby elephant pirouetting her way across the floor

a petite peacock does a slow turn
revealing aquamarine feathers

the monkeys swing and jump from tree to tree
acrobatics is their identity

a pride of lions takes center stage
salsa-ing with swag all the way

the giraffes bob their head up and down
to the beat of a chimps dun-dun-dun

the rhino likes to shake his booty
have it flaunt it boosts up his mojo

the gala goes on all night long
getting rowdier and wackier by the hour
cause the animals in this enclosure
are protected from all prying eyes
but only for tonight

and as the sun begins to rise
they bid adieu with their customary nod and goodbyes

‘let no two-legged come across this place,
let it stay away from man’s shadow for always.’

Written for dVerse prompt by Lilian for the word ‘groove‘ and Sumana’s Midweek Motif ‘celebration’ @Poets United

Today I wanted to conjure up an image where all the animals of the world are free to party, away from the interference of man. It is a little whimsical and is inspired by the children’s book ‘Giraffes can’t dance’.

I can just imagine all the animals moaning “Why don’t the humans leave us alone?”

What fun! Somehow, as I read it, I heard the music of “The Lion King” !

I LOVE this! It reminds me of the idea that I always had, that when I was asleep, all my dolls woke up and played; and that, when I wasn’t looking and the sun was shining so my shadow was at my back, that my shadow was dancing a jig of its own right behind my back and only when I glanced around, did it fall in line with my steps ūüôā

This could truly be a scene in a Disney movie! LOVE it!

I love your imagination. What a fun idea! I have been thinking of my shadow dancing a little jig behind my back now! and I am sure some of our toys do come alive when we are all asleep:)

I wish this could happen for animals, everywhere, often. Sigh. I love the vision of them all, enjoying such freedom. Beautiful. Namratha, would you please email me at wildwomantwo@gmail.com? I have a question for you. Smiles.

I love that a two-legged can imagine/see all this and give it to the rest of us!
