If you are standing at a station of my life

As a witness, jury or judge

You might presume I stand still

Since I am forever in a speed test

A race with time on tracks that run parallel

Time, a non-stop Maglev

Me, a rusty steam engine of old,

pausing often,

to refill with coal,

to let off steam.

then running again.

running simultaneously on different tracks

tracks named mother, daughter, wife, work, addiction, pleasure, dreams,

feeling every second like being stretched on a wooden rack

while time jogs on indifferently.

I absolutely love the metaphor of the various locomotives. It’s made even stronger by the comparison to time, which merely jogs along but still manages to outpace the rest. Great poem!

Thank you for visiting and commenting😊 I intend to rework the poem to create stronger visuals using this metaphor
