Dead.

Zombie walking through this forsaken existence, I haunt our old haunts to re-live memories that haunt me.

The kiss goodbye.

The knock on the door.

The 21-gun salute.

I’m a ghost, though no body will be found.

I personally like the wordplay with the three haunts and the repetition. The “life” of a ghost would be very repetitious! A sad tale told very succinctly. Well done 🙂

I very much like the story you have given us. The short lines were very effective, though I agree with Margaret that the repetition of “haunt” in the second line was a little overdone. Overall, well done!

Thank you Christine. Probably the overdoing was a little intentional, but maybe it does cause a jarring effect. Should keep that in mind for future writing.

I like the eerie feel of this. The word repetition in the second line was a distraction, though I like the thought behind it.
