Do you continue to do your best,
though you know for sure
nothing is in your hand?
Do you keep a smile on your face,
not knowing whether success or failure
is coming your way?
Do you prepare to loose
or focus steadfastly on hope;
eliminating all else?
Do you surrender to a higher power?
Ponder if you will have the strength
to accept your fate?
You know for certain
the coin has been tossed,
It can fall either way.
Why not smile?
Why not hope?
Why not do?
Why not believe?
Doesn’t matter anyway.

You put forth some good questions, Namy. I agree that it’s much better to have an optimistic point of view to help get through the rough times…smiling always helps everything be better. Welcome to dVerse, I hope you can visit again. We have several prompts during the week that may appeal to you.
Gayle~
Thanks Gayle. Will be sure to check out the prompts.
I choose the positive side of life ~ Liking the question approach to the poem ~
Yes positivity in tough times helps us get through them. Thanks. Enjoyed your poem filled with questions too
It probably doesn’t hurt to keep the smile on one’s face if one can.
Exactly. Might help the situation
I think we do it because it just feels better to smile, to hope and believe. Reality often hurts to much not to do it.
Hope helps us look forward to be better tomorrow and a smile heals us from within
Hello Namratha, First of all a bigggg congratulations for the new family member. Welcome to the world little cherub. Loads of love and good wishes your way.
Have been missing you writing. Hope you manage to steal a few quiet moments to blog.
This is a powerful poem filled with much optimism, despite the challenges.
Thank you so much for the wishes, Natasha. It’s heartening to know someone missed my writing. Trying to make some time to write. Been reading quite a bit though, and following your writings.
How very optimistic this poem is. ‘The coin has been tossed, it can fall any way’ – I love that line.
Thanks Tulika. It was very apt for what I was going through then, somethings are not in our control.
Love this inspirational poem. I agree always go for what you believe in. It is not about winning or losing
Thank you Marja! It was written to inspire myself as well as others to keep trying in a difficult time. Thanks for reading!
I am smiling reading this, hoping to make you happy with my comment. 🙂 A nice poem
It does. Thank you:) Continue to smile:)
That’s what superheroes are supposed to do, right? So anyone going through what you wrote is nothing short of a superhero.
Really? Thought it was what everyday normal people go through.
I compared ordinary people who keep pushing forward inspite of the setbacks to superheroes.
Ah! That’s true. Thank you
