Biochemistry to Zumba: How did that happen? This is Ramya Gowda’s story to fitness and beyond!

Ramya Gowda did her Master of Science in Biochemistry. However, at the insistence of her trainers, she was also taking aerobics classes on the side since grade 12. She was into clinical research for 2 years, as her parents wanted her to pursue a career in her field of study.  However, her heart wasn’t completely into it. Fate did intervene in the form of her future husband. Seeing her passion for both dance and fitness, he urged her to take up Zumba.

Getting Zumba Fitness certified was only the first step. She needed no further push. She went on to do a range of fitness certifications: including Aqua Zumba, Zumba Stepper, Kettlebell & Precision Nutrition. Currently, she is the only Masala Bhangra trainer in the whole of Karnataka(Masala Bhangra is a form of fitness based on Bhangra! What fun!). She is also a Physique Elite Transformational Specialist.  Her passion for fitness and health just shines through when you talk to her. She insists,

“A balanced diet is the most important part of fitness. The right combination of diet, exercises and mindset is what is required for a complete physical transformation”

Her clients range from celebrities to body building clients. She caters to them both online and offline. But her focus is on transformation for ladies. She has helped women from ages 15 to 70 years take control of their bodies.

“Many ladies are overweight. They also suffer from a range of physical ailments like diabetes, thyroid issues and PCOD from a young age.”

Through her unique individually tailored physical transformational plans, she has been able to achieve great results, even with ladies weighing greater than 100 kgs. Within a few months, they have not only lost weight but also changed body shape. They have gone from feeling “lethargic to walk” to “doing rigorous weights”. That brings me to another myth she wants to dispell:

“Doing weights does not lead to weight gain or making women muscular.”

Frequent travellers with knee and back issues also are part of her clientele. She has helped them to be pain-free by inculcating fitness routines with physiotherapy.

It is obvious that Ramya Gowda is a fitness all-rounder. You can reach her on her Facebook Page and Zumba Fitness & Masala Bhangra page.

I wanted to let you know I’ve nominated you for the Mystery Blogger Award. I don’t know if you’re into these sorts of blogging awards, but if you chose to accept the award, the rules are up on my site. I really enjoyed your A to Z posts (I still have some catching up to do, I admit) and I’m looking forward to reading more from you!

Masala Bhangra is a little out of the ordinary! but as can be expected provides a great upper body workout. Tried out a few classes last year but I prefer Zumba. So glad I finished the AtoZ!!

hahah that’s a cute way to describe it. I love Zumba, I haven’t joined a zumba class though. But I have done Zumba at home – but its always better when you are doing with many around.
Congratulations on completing the competition on a high
